UTSC's DSD with SUCI program is a fun, inexpensive, exciting and learning-packed, introduction to scuba. It is invaluable for making an informed decision whether to take UTSC's Open Water Diver course with SUCI.

When do you hold UTSC DSD with SUCI events?

We typically hold DSD events twice a year, once in the Spring and once in the Fall. In 2020, we'll hold DSDs on March 25th and September 23rd, and in 2021 we'll hold DSDs on March 24th and September 22nd, and all will run from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. on the preceding Wednesdays.

Where do you hold UTSC DSD events?

UTSC DSD with SUCI events will be held in the Leadership Room and the Training Pool at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC) at 875 Morningside Avenue (just south of Highway 401).

Simply complete and submit our DSD Pre-Registration Form and we'll get right back to you. 

How much does it cost, and what do I get for my money?

The cost is $45 per person per session which can be paid by eTransfer when you register. Here’s what you get for your money:

  • Classroom instruction & learning
  • Pool instruction (both above and under water), learning, excitement, and fun on scuba

  • All scuba equipment for your session including mask, snorkel, fins, weights, scuba jacket, tank and regulators
  • Membership in “ScubaEarth”, PADI’s online scuba diving community
  • 90-day trial subscription to the digital version of PADI’s “Sport Diver” magazine
  • Access to the first eLearning module of PADI’s Open Water Scuba Diver Course
  • Discover Scuba Diving eCard*

*This eCard is not a certification card that allows you to dive independently. If you wish to dive independently, you will first need to successfully complete SUCI’s Open Water Diver Certification course.

What will I learn?

You'll learn the essentials of scuba diving and experience the thrill of what it`s like to breathe under water.

What do I need to provide?

  • Payment of the DSD fee by the close of registration (5:00 pm on the Wednesday preceding your DSD session)
  • Your bathing suit, a t-shirt to wear under your scuba jacket, a towel, and some paperwork we’ll ask you to complete after you register.

Refund Policy:

  • Full refund if you cancel BEFORE Close of Registration or if SUCI has to cancel
  • No refund if you cancel AFTER Close of Registration or do not show up
